“An Adulterous Woman” (Prov 30:20)

30-proverbs-30-20-she-wipes-her-mouth-714x1000“So is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, I have done no iniquity.” vs20

The adulteress has no conscience: she sins with impunity, being unable to see the wrong, unable to see the Judgment, and unable to see God Himself. Such is the way of false religion: it claims to love God but does not. It strays from Jesus Christ, and all its peace is a delusion, “based on Satan’s working, with all kinds of false miracles, signs, and wonders (2 Thess 2:9). The false gospels of works, signs and wonders, and licentiousness, along with every other false way, deny Christ and Him crucified according to Scripture.

1     Do not partake of ways of the adulterous. She is not to be envied for her prosperity, but she’s to be fled from! Rev 18:4, “Then I heard another voice from heaven: Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins or receive any of her plagues.” It is NOT true that we can worship God how we please because doesn’t matter; it is not true that we can believe anything that we want, so long as we “believe in Jesus”. We must have the truth of the gospel according to Scripture, or we perish!

God is not accepting man’s way. In the Old Testament, the sacrifices were brought to the right place appointed, or they worshipped Satan (Lev 16:7). In the wilderness, they partied before the Golden Calf, only to be slaughtered for their transgression! It is not the religion of man but of Christ… not our opinion but the written word… and not how how we feel but what God says. Do not be so easily deceived .

2     True religion is Christ crucified according to Scripture. Paul determined to know nothing else, and God’s people have no more apostles, no new revelations, and no more apostolic powers! We still have the same gospel, but we don’t do miracles as they did because they are not needed: we have the final revelation. Jesus said, “I testify to everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book (Rev 22:18).

We have the gospel that was once for all delivered to the saints, and it must not be added to by dreams and visions, which are delusions for those unsatisfied with Christ. 2 Thess 2:10, “And with every unrighteous deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth in order to be saved.” Flee from these things, grab Christ according to the word, and you’ll have all that you need for life and godliness.

He will not let you down, as He reveals Himself DAILY by the gospel. We are unworthy sinners, but Christ has not failed! We deserve death, but He deserves life for His people: we are risen in His resurrection, forgiven in His blood, and we are the chosen ones for whom He died. He said, “I pray for them. I am not praying for the world but for those You have given Me, because they are Yours (John 17:9).”

Do not be deceived by self-righteous, man-centered religion: Everything is in Christ, and He is the worthiness of every blessing, even everything spiritual and temporal that He does for us.

3     Christ crucified makes us faithful: it binds the heart to God with love, as Another Power comes to help the sinner. Have you not felt it? Do you not believe with power to love the Son of God (1 Cor 16:22)? Isn’t it true that forgiveness cleanses you, and you desire to do His will is because He sets you free from the curse? Isn’t seeing Him daily in the Spirit the only thing brings you joy?

This supernatural power of Christ crucified compels us to lay our lives down to get people the gospel (2 Cor 5:14). People ask, “Why go to Africa?” Because there is a need. “Why give up comforts?” Because I cannot be happy not obeying the call. Scripture says, “After he had seen the vision, we immediately made efforts to set out for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them (Acts 16:10).” We must do what God has said, and love for God compels us to go wherever He’s appointed – to church, to work, to the family and friends – and do them good. The love of the gospel compels us to be loving people – to make others know Christ Himself.

Brethren, don’t get distracted by false gospels! One of Satan’s tools is to get us so occupied with the adulteress that we forget Christ, getting so caught up rebuking error that we don’t preach the cross.  May the Lord give us grace to know the deadness of the adulteresses conscience and lift up Christ to awaken God’s elect, dealing with error WHILE POINTING to the Lamb.
