“A Fountain Sealed” (Song 4:12)

The believer is safe and protected. Surely, God’s elect are safe, when we’ve been predestined to life everlasting. Surely, nothing can stop God who’s covenanted to save us (Rom 8:29). Salvation is a promise – a gift God made for us in the counsel halls of eternity, when Father, Son, and Spirit covenanted. It was NEVER up to us, when Christ became the Surety, and the Spirit is given because, “It is finished” (Heb 7:22). Therefore, we have nothing to fear: We have all things – the promises and the inheritance. We have God on our side, so who can be against (Rom 8:31)? We have the Spirit as Comforter and power over sin. We have the Father being gracious to us continually for Christ’s sake (Ps 89:33).

God must cease being God – faithful, loving, and almighty – for one believer to be lost. It cannot happen, and it shall not be. “For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 8:38-39).” Let this secure your heart as you serve Him, bounce back from sins, and as you enjoy peace.

1     Peace is the inheritance of the saints – not fear in a slavish sense, but confidence in God our Savior. If you are fearful, then you’re not looking to Him in faith. You may not know where your next meal is coming from, but it doesn’t mean that God is unfaithful. You may have a mountain of sin (we all do), but what is that compared to Christ? Tell Satan, “So what. I’m not worthy of the blessing. So what.” It doesn’t matter that you’re sinful: God knew that you’d be a transgressor from the womb. He says, “You have never heard; you have never known; for a long time your ears have not been open. For I knew that you were very treacherous, and were known as a rebel from the womb (Isa 48:8).” Therefore, He covenanted to save you, keep you, and correct you.

He never let anything depend on your imaginary free will! He always said that He’d give you faith, and He’d keep you, as not one believer can perish. You are as safe as Jesus Christ, for you are ALREADY THERE, “together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up & seated us in the heavens (Eph 2:7).” The future has already come for God, so wait until it comes for you. Nothing can stop you & shake your inheritance. Your peace is in Him.

2     Let this peace rule your heart constantly! Not only are you safe, but you have all the privileges. You are not persevering by a partial gospel or hiding from an offended God! You have God Almighty in Jesus Christ, so let your soul rejoice daily, that you have all things. You have life from the dead, power to walk in newness, and you have God as your present Help in time of need (Ps 46:10). Bless God, dear ones, you have all things including forgiveness, reconciliation, & absolute assurance that He’ll make you able to honor Him. He says, “You are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Pet 1:5).” We won’t have peace in our own wills, but being in His will, we have nothing to fear. “No power of hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from His hand… Here in the power of Christ, I stand.”

Do you believe the gospel? Then believe all of it. Don’t leave blessings on the table while you have fears, but refresh yourself daily in the fountain of life. You are a garden enclosed, protected by Jesus, and life is in you. He loves you, delights to fellowship with you, and He is your Keeper. You are the possessor of heaven & earth because all things exist for your sake, Oh individual believer, even as all works together for our good collectively (1 Cor 3:22).

3     Do not fear as you labor for Christ: keep this in mind, “I am safe”. “Men may hate, but I am safe. Satan allures, but I’m safe. The flesh rages, but I’m safe: I’m in covenant relationship with Christ.” He who cannot fail has given promises to the weakest, most tempted, and most fallen believer. He’s promised good things to whoever looks to Him. “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Rom 10:13).” He’s made gospel blessing His responsibility, and we rely on Him to fulfill it. Nothing can stop the soul leaning on Christ because there’s more with us than against. Open your eyes, dear brothers, and see God encompassing you about. “Then Elisha prayed, ‘LORD, please open his eyes and let him see.’ So the LORD opened the servant’s eyes. He looked and saw that the mountain was covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (2 Kings 6:17).”

What does it matter what man does to you? What will separate us from His love, and if I have that, then why fear men? He says, “Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (Matt 10:28).”

You’ve been predestined to the greatest privilege in all of eternity – to believe. One day, it will appear how safe we are, when we look at God’s face, realizing, “I had nothing to fear!” He is with us in absolute power, and nothing can rival Him. Pharaoh is in the Red Sea, Babylon is broken, and the kingdoms of this world will bow to Christ. He says, “They came up over the surface of the earth and surrounded the encampment of the saints, the beloved city. Then fire came down from heaven and consumed them (Rev 20:9).” Therefore, teach the word faithfully, having no fear. Therefore, stand for Christ singularly, unafraid, or with trembling knee (Judges 6:27). Stand because He is with you, and He calls us to faithfulness to display His own.

Brothers, you are safe, so live abundantly for God’s glory in Christ.
