The Lord speaks well of us. He says, “You are a fountain of gardens, a well of living waters and flowing streams from Lebanon (vs15).” He says that we are life-giving, and this is the Church and believer. We have life within, so we give life-without. We love Him, so our love HELPS OTHERS. This is the gift of grace – to be made LIKE Christ. Look at this blessing, brothers, and rejoice: We don’t have the same gifts, but we are useful in the kingdom. 1 Cor 12:7, “But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” We have poor and trembling words, but they still give life to all who receive them, because we have the truth of the gospel.
The gospel goes by many names: Sovereign Grace, Calvinist, Reformed, etc, but it is one saving message. Jesus Christ crucified is all that life is about – to know Him and make Him known (1 Cor 2:2).
Do not be defeated by other ideas: You have the gospel that gives life, so let us use it. Use it in prayer, use it through open doors, and use it to encourage your brothers! You say, “I cannot preach”, but the preacher is encouraged when someone is there faithfully. You say, “I have little to give”, but the Lord commended the woman who gave all, even though it was a small amount: He said, “I tell you the truth. This poor widow has put in more than all of them. For all these people have put in gifts out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on (Luke 21:3-4).” Surely, you can do that.
In all things, do not be tempted to nothingness by Satan, who says, “You can’t do a lot”, but do what you can, and it is sufficient. Grace saves by the feeblest believer because grace is not dependent on man (Rom 9:16). Grace is God’s gift through the vessels that He’s appointed, and we are these vessels – chosen from the foundation of the world to give faithfulness to others BY THE GRACE that He gives us.
Do not fear your inadequacy, but look up to God, and He’ll deliver you. Say that word, encourage that brother, and give yourself to Jesus. He will use you, because He’s equipped you. Let it abound more and more!
