The most important thing in all the world is to be right with God by faith in Christ. He says, “Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come out–those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of judgment (vs28-29).” The difference between life and judgment is faith in Jesus Christ, for the Father has committed judgment into His hands (vs27).
This reminds us of Joseph. He was exalted to the throne for saving Egypt, Pharaoh’s right hand man with absolute power: only Pharaoh was above him, even as Christ has been exalted on high with all authority under God the Father. 1 Cor 15:27-28, “For God has put everything under His feet… And when everything is subject to Christ, then the Son Himself will also be subject to the One who subjected everything to Him, so that God may be all in all.” The Infinite Son, the One who inhabits eternity, condescended to be made Man, so that He might reign over all as God’s appointed Savior. You will be saved by Him or damned by Him, and there is no middle ground!
The world is corrupt, filled with injustice after injustice, and Judgement Day is coming when God will rectify things! He will punish the wicked and every disobedience will receive its just reward, but how will it be with you? Judgment has passed from you, if you trust Christ, having heard the Son’s voice. If not, then you and I will stand wicked before the throne, without excuse, to be cast into hell forever. It doesn’t matter if you’ve done more to save humanity! If you haven’t trusted Christ and forsaken all for the gospel, then He will come for you in dreadful terror to execute vengeance.
What is our job in this world? To preach the gospel. What is the meaning of life? To see Christ and make Him known. Do not get it twisted: there’s greater evil than can be seen with the eye – not the evil of man against man, but the evil of man against God by rejecting the Son that He has sent. Be wise and be warned: Believe on the Son, and you will live; refuse Him and perish forever. He says, “I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life (John 5:24).”
